President’s Message '07          PDF Version (download)

What a year it has been, so to speak.  We have had some wonderful programs with great speakers, and have found new venues in which to have our meetings.  Attendance has rebounded closer to what we have come to expect at our functions as well.  That being said, we have also had our trials and tribulations as we continue our efforts to maintain our high expectations and achievements for our section.  I want to extend my apologies on behalf of our board for not having our typical cohesive meeting schedule and calendar.

To that end, you will see some new but familiar names on this year’s board slate.  Several individuals have been coming to our board meetings as (officially) advisory members, since we did not have them on last year’s slate.  This year, we can recognize them as full board members, and I want to thank them for their efforts over the past several months.  I also want to thank in advance the people on this year’s board with whom I will so proudly serve for the upcoming year:

Gary Byram, Vice President

Ron Galati, Treasurer

Donalee Drohen, Secretary

Joe Carnevale, Past President

Roger Burava, Manager

Paul Estok, Manager

Mark Felgate, Manager

Bill Grindal, Manager

Chad Groshart, Manager

Brian Labbe, Manager

Mark Maziarz, Manager

We will once again start off the year with our annual golf event, the most significant fundraiser for our educational events throughout the year.  We have a packed program slate for the upcoming year, with topics including sports, exterior, retail and residential lighting, physiological effects of lighting, and lighting controls/energy guidelines.  Once again, we are having a mix of sit-down presentations and on-site meetings.  This year we will produce the monthly calendar for you to reference dates, topics and locations.

As the demands from our professional (and personal) lives seem to be ever increasing, it is more difficult to set aside the time for activities such as these meetings.  However, these are a great opportunity to benefit your professional lighting knowledge, thereby benefiting your company as well.

I hope you have a great year and look forward to seeing you at our events.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions at 203-559-7536, or e-mail me at TMinnick@Lightolier.com.
